Steven Schoch (he/they) is a visual artist, actor, choreographer and dancer as well as singer. His work ranges between (video-)performance/theater and installation and is outlined by his interdisciplinary approaches and the relationship to the audience. In his artistic work he deals with our everyday existence, which is characterized by contradictions. His focus lies often on the simultaneity of these states. Among other aspects, power structures, identity dispositives, transcendental knowledge and their aesthetics are being investigated with different means.

Steven Schoch studied Fine Arts at the Institut Kunst HGK FHNW in Basel (Bachelor) and Expanded Theater at the Hochschule der Künste HKB in Bern (Master). He regularly has solo and group exhibitions as well as performances in Switzerland and abroad, for example in the exhibition New Swiss Performance Now at the Kunsthalle Basel, at the Festival Les Urbaines in Lausanne, Staging Alterity in Shanghai and Aré Festival in Yerevan, Armenia. Most recently he premiered the production \"Moontalker\" together with Chris Handberg at the Kaserne Basel.

He was the initiator and co-founder of the Atelierhaus Flatterschafft in Basel and is involved in the KASKO, space for performance, art and mediation in Basel, in addition to other association activities.

In 2014 he received the work contribution of the Canton Appenzell Ausserrhoden. The cantons of St. Gallen and Appenzell Ausserrhoden purchased works by him in 2015 and 2016. In 2017, he received the DanceWeb dance scholarship in Vienna. In 2019 he was nominated for the Performancepreis Schweiz. In 2021 he received the Förderpreis Basel-Stadt and in 2022 the Christina Spoerri Preis.
